Cordless Telephones Offer Dizzying Array of Features
Choose the features you want first: Level of amplification, Caller-Id, Speakerphone, Answering Machine. You can find just about all these features in a cordless phone. The most important feature, of course, is the level of volume gain you need to hear clearly on the phone.
Phones with 30dB gain are good for people with mild hearing loss. Phones with 40dB gain are adequate for moderate hearing loss while phones with 50+ dB volume gain can help people with more severe hearing loss or those who have 'bad hearing days'.
Some special considerations: If you have switched to a digital phone service, make sure you have an analog convertor or adapter to use with a cordless phone. You may want a phone with 5.8GHz or DECT 6.0 bandwith to avoid interference if you have a wireless internet router in your home. |
